I didn't think I'd like it, and it was done for the sake of practicality, fuction before form type deal, but the after the fact appearance is actually not at all objectional. In fact, I think I like the contrast between the solid fat rear wheel and the skinny spoked front wheel. Kind of gives it a look similar to the old hot rods, with the skinny front tires and fat slicks. Sort of means business sort of look.
Sorry for the dark pics, not sure why they came out that way, as the flash was on.
Looks great, I was thinking of mounting a solid on my 06. But I want wider then a 4.5" which is what a deuce wheel is. So been looking on ebay and waiting for a good deal on a 06 above chromed dish softail wheel.
I thought the duece wheel was 5" ? It was wider than my stock street bob spoke wheel, and it was 4.5"Bike looks great. I have the Duece rear wheel also and had the front spoke for a while. Good Job.
on a 05 wide, what is the biggest solid wheel and tire can be put on without all the mods, ect I to like the solid wheel, with the spoke front, you can hardley see the rear anyway esp if you have bags on the easy brackets, and those are some hard a&& spokes to clean, it would be nice to have a solid chrome wheel with a 180 tire, the fat tire thing i believe is history already, around here 200 seems to be the fattest
I think it looks fine. It should also be easier to clean. I love spokes, but they are a pain in the @ss when it comes to brake dust and road grime.
That was the problem, I loved the spokes, but they were impossible to keep clean, due to the limited space. In addition, they kept loosening up, due to the torque from the 96 I suppose. They certainly wouldn't stand up long term to any serious engine modifications.
Last straw was dicking around with a tube a good piece from home. With a solid wheel, I could have just plugged the tire to get me home, to where I could get more permanent repairs performed.
