Crash bar dented front fender
Here are someanswers to the many questions asked.
The sig picture was taken before I hit the pothole. The forks were and are still true and straight.
I have the FXDP floorboards Part # 50580-01 and the outer edges of the boards are within the boundries ofthe crashbars.
The crashbars I have are from HD part # 49218-01.
I believe the WG bars are part#49017-82A.
The bars attach to the mounting points on the FXDP floorboard brackets and at the top of the frame.
Just like Axholio pointed out, the top mounting point on the baris very thick. That' s the part that creased the fender.
I don't know how the rake on the FXDP compares to the FXD. That could also be the problem.
The crease in the front fender is only about 1/8 deep.
I guess I will try the heavier weight oil and add a little extra to create a buffer zone.
That seems to make sense and is the cheapest starting point.
Then I can put a piece of tape over the crease and see if the tape gets compressed into the crease, before I getthe fender fixed.
As to why do I have floorboards? Ilove my Dyna, but after 40+ years of riding and 4 herniated discs, I have to go with some additional comfort. Can't use forwards cause after 1 hour being stretchedout = 1 week of pain killers.Ahhhh.... to be physicaly young again.
Thanks.
