Do changing the tank emblems decrease or change the value of the bike? I am thinking about purchasing some new ones for my fatbob, but not to sure that i want to change the original look...thanks for the opinions....
Not sure about the value, but you change alot of other items from stock. Wouldn't think it would make a difference. I think the Fatbob emblem looksbetter than alot of others. Especially with the "letter opener" portion removed. Haven't removed that portion of mine yet sinceit is down on my list of items to do.
I would imagine 25 years down the road if your Fat Bob was otherwiseall original, in pristine condition, and had low miles, having the wrong emblems might lower the value.
Shouldn't matter. I've been thinking that when I get mine I might go with the type the Street Bob has? What I'd really like is more of a decal type like the Cross Bones has, but wouln't that end up looking kinda cheap? Should be clearcoted in I assume.
Gilly
If you can get the stock ones off without ruining the emblem itself, they could always go back on with new 3M tape. Or, order new OEM emblems and slap them on when the time comes - if you're thinking that's too expensive, then that right there answers your question on how much value they add to the bike.
I'll be changing mine soon. I worry about changing the value to me first and someone else later. I'll be removing the stock badges and putting on the bar and shield ones very similar to the fatbob ones without the "letter opener". However, I'll also be carefully removing the stock ones and will save them so they can be put back on if someone wants to. That's easier on some more than others. Mine happen to be made of metal so I don't really have to worry about breaking them when I take them off.

Did you buy it for investment purposes?.....Because vehicles are about the worst investment you can make if you want your money to grow.
jefx, of course the bike is an investment, but the only number that will be growing is the money spent on the bike....
i was also thinking of removing the "letter opener" but i think that the bar and shield will now be off centered...i guess i could move them if i wanted.....
i look foward to seeing other bikes with new emblems and i thank everyone for the opinions...

Off-center? Why would you want a tank badge centered on the tank anyway? I think it would look perfect just where it is. I personally have no problem with the letter opener. But, if you remove it, the bar and shield, IMO, should stay right where it is.
