The stock o2 sensors are extremely narrow band and try to keep the afr at 14.6:1. Some of the aftermarket fuel management systems come with replacement wide band o2 sensors to get around this. Some, like the Doebeck/Techlusion unit use a bypass with a resister that gets around the o2 sensors limiting factor. I've been running one of these for the last 10k miles and my bike runs great. http://www.techlusion.com/

I can certainly be wrong but I am under the impression that the current Delphi system on the Harleys is not a true closed loop system, I think that it is a partial closed loop system that goes closed loop only under certain conditions. The rest of the time it operates in open loop.

i was under the impression that as long as the system reads the exhaust prior to it mixing with outside air, never introducing outside readings into the algo, it is closed-loop.

The O2 sensor eliminators have a known resistor value in them to simulate a certain value, basically putting the ECM into a know state The platinum wire temperature compensator in the air intake tract of a fuel injection system, as in a closed loop system, gives feedback to the ECM to adjust fuel/air ratios within a specified range. The PCIII basically bypasses this feedback loop and adjust the fuel/air ration (maps) separately, and the maps tune the fuel/air mixture according to rpm/throttle position.
The ThunderMax system, replaces the stock ECM, maintains the O2 sensors, and has multiple wires (vs. the HD 2-wire) thereby being able to control the A/F ratio over a much broader range. Even with this system, it still has to have a basic map installed, (taking into account any engine/exhaust changes you have made).
There are several threads on the forum that go into great detail about a FI systems. Worth the read.
I know that I plan to get a T-Max system down the road and replace my PCIII.

All right, at the risk of opening a giant can of worms, I see that several people have mentioned other mapping systems. What is the best system out there and for what application, stock, slightly modified, highly modified. Never had EFI before so I'm a little new to this area.

It looks like that websiter is filtered out on by intent (mods).
If Im right dont look for trying it again to work, I think thats the vforum or some such-competition must be tough
