I got a new high flow ac. My buddy gave me some xied's that he wasn't using. I went to install them to find the o2 sensors were bypassed.
If I remember right the PO said the bike was tuned at Harley. It currently has VH big radius pipes on it that the PO had installed and the stock ac. I have the Low Brow customs 2-1 that I will be installing later.
Will anything bad happen if I reconnect the o2 sensors with the xieds? I'm thinking not but want to be sure. A power vision is in the plans at some point. Thanks
The bike is a 2008 fat bob that I've had a couple of years.
I went ahead and hooked the sensors back up with the xieds in line. It ran ok with no engine light or anything, but now have a good bit of decel pop. I'm kind of at a loss here. Would I be better off putting the jumpers back in? It was popping a little even before the new ac and the xieds.
Anyone got any ideas? I really don't get why the o2 sensors were bypassed anyway.
Sorry can’t help much diagnose the xieds as I’m not familiar with that system but any fuel injection system needs inputs to run properly, where it gets that data is equally important, for now O2 sensors provide that feedback...
If not then the bypass is just a resistance that mimics the value of the O2 sensor so the EFI won't go into limp mode and toss a code.
Delphi put a bit of effort into a closed loop EFI that could read the sensors and adjust the mixtures , to give them one value defeats the purpose IMHO
some tuners eliminate the O2 sensors so they do not send signals to the ECU.
The power commander tuner does not use the O2 sensors and they are disconnected with a cap that fools the ECU.
What is strange is you did not mention finding a plug on the end of the O2 wires, or find another tuner device so how was it tuned.
Yeah, I bought the bike this way and up until this point have just ridden it for the past 3 years. The previous owner said it was tuned and the pipes were installed at harley. The o2 sensors were in the pipes, the wires were unplugged and they had a jumper plugged into the connector.
I really have no idea what the tune is or why the o2 was bypassed. I no longer live in the state that I bought the bike. My last bike was carbed so I'm not really up on fi.
I got the xieds because I have read that you need to richen the fuel mixture when adding an ac and pipes. The bike had pipes already on it with a stock ac. When I went to install the xieds I was surprised to find the o2'a bypassed.
Thanks for the replies.
