Well, I had my Dyna picked up on Monday afternoon and returned to me Wednesday afternoon. The service department was exemplary with the handling of the recall. As others have noted, neutral is much easier to locate and the overall feel of shifting now feels precise, solid, and secure. Time will tell if the dismantling of a transmission after only 1000 miles will increase the likelihood of additional issues. My only negative comment would be the bike came back dirty with greasy fingerprints over most of the parts that were worked on.

I had the transmission safety recall completed on my DWGI 2006 January 12, 2006. The exhaust crossover heat shield was damaged and the transmission top and side covers were dirty and greasy on delivery. The HD dealership replaced the heat shield and cleaned the covers. As previously stated in this thread, neutral is much easier to find. The transmission shifts are a little more noticeable to me. After putting on about 50 miles on the bike some rattling noises developed in the exhaust system. Further inspections revealed numerous bolts and nuts were loose. I repositioned exhaust system and all corresponding fasteners now have the correct torque applied as required by manual. Another 100 miles put on the bike everything seems OK.

That sounds like some pretty crappy work from the Dealer.

My dealer called and said that the recall kit for my bike came in finally. I am dropping it off today and they said it should be done by the end of the week. I hope this means that they're not going to start it right away...I'd hate to think that it would take them that long to complete the work. I'm also getting the 1000 mile service done.

Good Luck! Hopefully yours won't come back all greasy and dirty as mine did.
