Ok I need to see a cpl pics of forward controls on a dyna with the linkage like to see some kurykan and Harley Davidson so i can see any difference between the two before i order parts here soon.
Can either be installed with out removing the primary i have been told only the Kurykan can be done that way. but does the Kury have a offset linkage so if i ever want a custom linkage iam screwed as most are straight line.
Harley Forwards on my 06 Super Glide. Installed these following the great post written by WS6 Formula. His method has been used by many here and doesn't require removal of the primary covers. It was one of my first mods. I didn't know anything about the Harleys. Took me about an hour to do.The pic showsthe supplied chrome plugwhich covers the hole in the outer primary.
These are the Harley controls on my 07. The inner primary came off on mine, but the only reason for doing that is to remove the original shifter shaft and to install a longer transmission lever. If you don't mind the old shifter shaft sticking out through the primary cover, you don't need to take it off. You can also saw through the old shifter shaft from the back side and remove it that way.
What kind of offset linkage are you referring to?
Murphdogs had his primary off and installed the longer shift arm where jmpancoast just left the original one on there. I changed mine out as well myself. I did that when I put the back foot pegs on for my wife. I think I spent about 3 hours doing that, 2 hours was spent on the road and at Sears buying new tools that I did not have.
