If you post about a mod to your bike and don't include pics, you are labeled a forum rookie. You have 24 hours to remedy this.
I just got an e-mail from JP Cycles...they shippedthe spokes and rim.
Thanks again Jmpancoast for all your research on this mod and for posting a thread. I am going to pull the front wheel this weekend.
$90 buks for a 21" rim/spokes seems pretty cool...
how much time u think a shop would charge ? 2 hours ? or would it be longer to true up?
You need to make sure the hub and spokes on that pre-assembled wheel are the same type as what you have on your Dyna. By this, I mean, look at the hub of the wheel and see how they are laced. Are they laced from the outside of the hub, to the inside, then to the rim (like the Dynas). Are half the spokes spokes laced from the outside-in, and the other half of the spokes laced from the inside-out to the rim (such as a Wide Glide or Softail). The way they are laced is based on what type of hub you have, conical or spool.
The spokes you need will all be the same overall length except at the heads where they bend. Here the spokes are different lengths. Because the spokes are all laced from the outside-in, they cross over each other on the inside of the hub. Take a look at your existing hub to see what I am poorly trying to explain above.
