FATBOB RACETUNER
H-D warranty has to cover it, otherwise if something serious happens, all dealers can claim it vioded the warranty.
However, I did get it in writing from my dealer that all mods done at time of purchase and before delivery (SERT, SE Stage 1 intake, etc) were covered in the 2 yr moco warranty including the non-moco pipes! And when I got the bike dyno'ed usng the SERT it was also done at a HD dealer, whose work is guaranteed (got that in writing too!).
Sorry hmmr you weren't so lucky with your situation, but it helps to develop a good relationship with the dealer and to think like a lawyer before the purchase rather than after.
i don't like going through life thinking like a lawyer, i hire them to do that.
nonetheless, i didn't ask for your after the fact advice nor do i need it. my bike build is going according to plan. the sert was an option at the time and i've purchased a thundermax with integrated auto tune, a much better device, unless you are spending $$ weekly with yer sert tuner that ya got such a great relationship with.
i don't. either stay strictyly within the confines of the se upgrades as they are listed in the marketing material supplied by h-d corporate that do not risk any part of the warranty (it's all documented) or you take that risk.
i made my choice and juiced up my motor, i'll cover it.
mud ya can have yer know-it-all attitude all ya want
if that's what makes ya happy
or you can realize post count doesn't really matter.
fact is, you have no idea what your talkign about
re: this legal matter. i'd suggest u stick to chopping up air cleaners.
and I do know what I am talking about,
or I wouldn't say it with a period.
"SERT does not jeopardize the warranty
here in my neck of the woods
period."
Are you worried about my post count??
I don't think I know it all,
but, I did think I had heard it all
until I read you spewing -
"sert jeopardizes the warranty, period."

I give up. Is this dyno tune going to void my warranty or not. It must be done at a HD Dealership and get it in writing. I set up an appointment with an Indy and he told me to bring the disk. I now have no confindence in his ability on the Sert. If he has done many he would of kept all the maps no. Or he has the disk and has been working with them. I got the disk and cables and going to figure this out on my own. I will need help in the mean time. I will look into buying maps which are as close to my build and work from there.
If I had spent the money on the SERT, I would not be adverse to making a little day ride to get it tuned right. You might ask Mud if he had his done and where, he seems happy with the sert and his dealer and thatâs not a far ride. There is a dealer in Big Springs that has been around for a zillion yrs, you might call and milk them for info.
I wouldnât put out all that money and NOT get it done right, I would take the time and find a tuner.
