Remove the clamp slide it foreward, now heat....torch heat, not warm like toast, heat...you may if your lucky get by with one of those butane models. The longer they are on the harder they come off. When you install new ones Torque them , I've seen them fall off, but only on the bikes that didnt tighten them enough to crush the band clamp a little. Careful tightning, those grade 2 carriage bolts are cheap metal and will snap.

two hours of cussing wiggling and pounding with a dead blow and they came right off. they never said they were slip off's just slip on's...

I took mine off tonight...wasn't too hard. I took the bar off the bottom of the slip-ons and loosened the clamps. I was then able to wiggle the back and forth and they slipped off fairly easily. Maybe I just got lucky. Had the old ones off and the new ones on in about thirty mintues or so.
