Removing mufflers , whats the trick??

Removing mufflers , whats the trick??
Im trying to take the stock mufflers off of my Super Glide to put some SE's on . However them babies are on there something good. Anyone have a trick or tip for getting the originals off ?

if these are slipons WD40 will get them lose. if they are full pipes then the up and down movement will work.
I remember the first time I change the slipons on my dyna.
The first pipe took 30 minutes with no wd40.
The second took 2 minutes.

Well if you could care less about the mufflers you are pulling you can beat them off.
If you care about how they look for possible reinstall or whatever here are some things I done. Completely back off the tightening clamps and spread them apart so the end of pipe can expand. Then I have taken a angle chisle to spread the exhaust tube at the pipe cuts. Then you should be able to move the pipe up down side to side loosening it's fit and slideing off. Sometimes a rubber strap wrench works good to spin it while pulling and moving up down etc till off. Of course if you don't care about the mufflers beating them off is quicker

If the mufflers are a dealer installed item you may have a rivet in them... Mine had one rivet in one muffler.

I had screaming eagles put on at the dealer. when i went to change out to vance and hines i had a hell of a time getting the s-e off. turned out each one was riveted on. now why'd they go a do that?
