There is an allen head that goes into the engine crankcase. But it will not drain all of the oil. The oil plug should be a socket, not an allen plug, and it drains the oil tank.

You've got me really scratching my head. Very perplexing there, sniper. No O-ring and no magnetic tip. It sure does not sound like a drain plug. You buy your bike new?

My oil drain faces the left side of the bike.so it drains best on the kick stand.

When I got home I checked my manual plus looked at my bike. Just like I thought earlier and SM 49 said it the oil plug faces out at you on the kick stand side. You removed an engine plug not the oil drain plug. Again the oil plug is on the side of the oil pan not on the bottom facing the kick stand.

Okay, thanks.

I just went out and looked in the area several of you have mentioned and whala! there it is.

I pulled a bull plug out of the front of the pan, not the oil drain plug on the rear-side of the drain pan.

It had been several hours since I had posted my question and with me having to go to work at 2am. I needed to get things back together and re-installed the bull plug with a bit of blue locktite and refilled the crankcase with new oil. It took about 2 2/3 qt so I did miss a bit in the draining process.

I'll just change the oil again in a couple thousand miles using the correct drain plug and we'll be back to normal.

Thanks to each of you for your help.

Glad you got it sorted out. It was nice of the dealer to give you an o-ring. Even though they are only a few cents a piece my dealer has never done that.

You have probably removed the wrong plug. The drain plug for the engine and the tranny, both have hex head and allen drain plugs. Do you have a owner manual. If not, get the repair manual.

That's affirmative. Your bike would be better off without an oil change while you wait for a manual than if you managed to mess something up. These things are too expensive to take any chances.
