Made an appiontment and took my bike to the dealer (2 weeks to get in) to have them look at the "clunk" in the front end. I went armed with a copy of the service bulletin, handed it to them said this might be it. They took the bike inside with the bulletin, after about 10-15 minutes came back and said it was fixed. They told me my bike had the correct washer and they just needed to retorque it. And that I might still hear a clunk from the "floating rotor". OK great I am all fixed and ready to go. Well then they tried to charge me $35.00 for the labor........ Hello! 351 miles on bike, ummmm what about warranty I ask? I was then told that that is something they catch on the 1000 mile service and it is covered under that, but they would go ahead and catch it this time. Not my first day at the rodeo, but it is my first bike ever. So rode it back home 45 miles. Well I thought all was good and that wasn't the original clunk I heard ,no, couldn't have been they fixed that, that must've been the rotor. So I didn't hear anything the rest of they way home, cool. Skip ahead a few days and the clunk is back or still there as the case may be. So I thought there must be something really wrong with my bikes front end. Now as NOOB I confess I didn't know how the top cover came off or I would have checked it there. But after talking with my neighbor who fortunately knows alot about these bikes, showed me how it comes off, and what do I find? A thin little washer bent up against the nut. Not the proper part as per the service bulletin. GRRRRRR.
Now the part that really ticks me off is the fact that I took the service bulletin with me and handed it to them. And they have the audacity to tell me I have the right part already installed, that highly irratates me. Now I really can't trust them, thank goodness for this forum, I will have to make sure I know as much as I can before getting anything done. I have read all the post about the "Stealers" and thought they can't all be that way....can they? Appearantly.
So now they are coming from Ames to pick up the bike (45 mile) and take it back to fix it. I know in my heart that they don't have the part and it will have to be ordered so I will be without for a friggin week or more. I was just going to get the washer and do it myself but the OL want's to make them do it right. If it were me and I had the part in stock I would just fix it when I got here and not drag the bike back for something so simple.
