I just got a takeoff seat from an '07 Super Glide Custom (Thanks BRRider!) and decided to take the sissy bar off and I can't believe how much better the bike looks. Check out the before pic and the after in my sig. It looks like a new bike. I will probably put the sissy bar back on for road trips, but for now I'm digging the cleaner look. Now I just need to put some new bars on and relocate the signals.
Looks much better like that.Enhances the bobtail fender. I had a pillion on mine the first week I had it. Couldn't get rid of it quick enough. Go ahead and take out another mortgage and get the detachable sideplates.
Yeah I should have gotten the detachable ones in the first place, but I was being a cheap Bastard. Maybe later, I want to get some new bars and do a few other mods. I'm probably going to work on that license plate mount too. It's just too damn big hanging off the back like that. It never ends does it.
I don't know, I like the looks of a sissy bar! It's functional too. great to tie stuff to.
I'm with you b5mac, I like having it too, just like having the 2 up seat. I like being able to strap gear to it. I think I will get a Medium Low upright verses the Low one that I have. With the new seat the low one is too high. I just wanted a sleeker look.
I picked up one ofFXDC seats for when I do two up riding and it looked alot better than I expected it to. Comfort wise it's not bad for a stocker seat and it's a quick change out when I gotta haul something, be it the OL or some parts. If ya really want to make it an easy change out from two-up/sissy bar back to solo stud check this bracket out. http://www.jbfabrication.com/
