Why do I not see many Dyna's out?

Gotta say, although there are quite a few models in other families that I like, I still believe I would buy another Dyna if I had to do it all over again. I enjoy being just a little bit different than the guy in the lane next to me. I too would be interested in some sales figures.I know the Softies gotta be at the top but I would like to see the difference in the figures.
On another note, saw a Cross Bones there today also. While it has some nostalgic appeal, after seeing it up close I really didn't like it as much as I thought I would.
The floorboards look stupid and they really screwed up by mounting polished covers on the outer casings instead of all black. The cheap looking plastic cover underneath the springer seat was a turn off also. Don't like the front fender much either with that kind of two piece looking design. This is all biased by the fact that I'm really not much of a fan of springer front ends either.
Glad they decided to make that one a Softy..........

When I bought my FXDC the dealer originally didn't want to sell it to me cause he said they didn't get them very often and wanted to keep one around. Maybe there is something to that production thing.
Most dealers I visit seem to have a lot of baggers, softails, and sportsters and very few dynas. Maybe a FXD or two, a Streetbob or two, 1 FXDC, 1 Fatbob, and a couple of lowriders on average.
The bike of choice among my riding buddies is probably the Heritage Softail Classic. I have about 8 guys I ride with, although almost never all at the same time, and 4 of them have a Heritage. I don't care for riding them because I feel like I'm riding a barstool with handlebars and a motor but I have to give it credit for being one of the most versatile Harleys on the market. Remove the bags and the windshield and you have a nice day cruiser, put them back on and you have a decent tourer. Of the other 4, 1 has a lowrider, 1 has an older FXR, 1 has a wide glide, and the last one has an Ultra Classic. So, half of them ride Softails and, if you include me in the group making it 9, a third of us are riding dynas if you count the FXR as one, which I do. I would say that's decent representation.
You can't blame the dealers for stocking the most popular and/or highest profit margin bikes. I'm sure they make more money off of more of the baggers and softails than they do on most of the dynas. I have nothing to back that up other than logic so I could be wrong. But, it makes sense that, if they were selling more dynas and made more money off of them, you would see more on the floor.
I was at the dealer and guy asked about an SE Softy and the sales guy says while we have the Dyna SE the guy replies I don't like Dyna's very forcefully. I didn't say anything. The guy then is out in the parking lot looking at bikes and says to me thats a good looking bike. I told yes its a Dyna forcefully. He than hoped on his Deluxe and rode away.
