WS6 Formula is the guy to talk to. He really helped me a lot. I had never done a project like this and was a little intimidated butit wasn't that difficult. Disassemble as little as you can get away with.
Here's what I had to buy:
90/90-21 Avon Venom tyre,
21" inner tube,
21" wheel from a Wide Glide,
46700-06 Upper Triple Clamp,
46386-06 Lower Triple Clamp,
40923-06 Front Axle,
40926-06 RH/FRT Spacer,
40927-06 LH/FRT Spacer,
3/4" spacers and 3/4" longer Allen head bolts for mounting the fender,
washers (.090") to center the caliper over the rotor,
Here's the existing hardwareI was able to use:
brake rotor,
brake caliper and bolts,
axle nut,
triple clamp pinch bolts,
head bearings and nuts,
fender and nuts,
forks (49mm),
If you buy this stuff from the dealer it is pretty expensive. I pieced together parts that I found on ebay with parts I had to get from the dealer. I was able to find the triple clamps and wheel on ebay and saved quite a bit. Fender spacers were the most difficult things to find so I had to just get what I could and modify them.
Be aware that some of the existing hardware is metric i.e. caliper bolts, axle clamp bolts.
I'm not sure if it's 2* or 3* but it's definitely more than stock
ode sku,
Triple clamps are 2*
pastahcole,
Congratulations, looks to me like you did a good job, bike looks good. Looks like it has a more radical rake with the lower rear. How do you like the handling? Does the bike feel lighter and more responsive?
I've been eye balling headlights from Springers, Wide Glides, Sportster customs andSoftail Customs, and just noticed yours has a similar shape of what I've beenlookingat, what bike is your headlight from?
I've not understood about the trees... is it of Wide Glide? Is it not small for a street bob?
stock street bobs[fxdbi] have "mid-glide" width triple trees...roughly 8-1/2" wide center to center and no rake...
the wideglide[fxdwg] however...has roughly 10" wide trees and 2 degrees rake...
WS6FORMULA - Your front end is the stock Mid-GLide or has it also been converted to a WG setup? Looks like thePastahCole's bike has more of anexagerated rake on the front. May be just the pictures, butthat looks nice. I think the combo of tank lift, progressives, and the 2* made a HUGE difference in appearance on his machine (I'm Jealous!). It all goes together really nice.
PASTAHCOLE - I've never pulled the front end apart, everything behind it I have though*Anyways* Any words of advice, maybe some tips to make things easier that you may have ran into? What is the procedure for taking the upper and lower Clamps off besides your obvious fork legs and stuff. Do I need any new gaskets or do I have to Press anything in or is it all just hand tools and common sense or what? Thanks in advance. hehe
