I have heard alot of good things about "Big Boyz" I have talked to them and they know there stuff. around 300$ with porting only, they mostly leave the stock parts in.
I personaly went with Head-Quarters, they offer a Full hand port job for around 950$, has new bronze guides, biggger valves, springs to match there cams, comprsion releases. and CCing the heads.
For the same money R&R offers CNC porting, heard many good things here too.
Thanks for the quick replys... I started to look around last year and kinda put it on the back burner. Tryin to add some good HP without screwin with the ride too much.. Spend most of my time just kickin it on the back roads in upstate NY. Im guessing by your posts that just messin with the heads is not the total answer.. Gunna guess cams w/ the gear set and new pistons are also in order.Well.. any other suggestions are appreciated.. See ya
Rick
The stock '06 Dyna heads are very good. They even have beehive valve springs. Unless you're doing a lot of other mods, you won't gain much of anything by having them ported.
Instead, do the simple standard stuff that always gives good bang for the buck. Cams, displacement, intake, exhasut, SERT.
Also new for '06 is the cam set up. Much differant than the '05 Dyna's and all other '06's. Supposed to eliminate all the shoe wear problems in the past. We'll see how that works out. But I hear that switching to a gear driven cam is not as easy or cheap as it used to be.
If most of your riding is back roads, and almost no interstate, you might also consider a gear down kit.
wow... looks beutiful... looks like if I do decide to go for it im in the area of $2500 - $3000. Gotta be honest its a bit pricey but im a good saver. What kinda numbers did you get with the new setup?? I was reading on the web site that one guy had his bike on the dyno for like 10 hrs. Holy crap... I dont wanna even think about what kinda money that cost.
mud - I've got Andrew's TW60 cams in there. I kept the chain drive on Branch's recommendation. At almost 15,000 miles, the tensioners showedalmost no wear. The pistons are also from Branch, but they're made by CP Pistons. 10.5:1 compression with the heads. Roller rockers and adjustable pushrods finish out the package.
