I'm a big fan and yes I have one installed. I bought the Thundermax because it "auto tunes" meaning I don't need to have my bike dyno'd unless I just want to. I also bought it because it is portable. If I sell my bike I can take it to another bike.
Since I've installed it, I have been impressed with how easy the software is to use. I'm especially impressed with the support from Zippers. They take their time and answer all questions. They respond to email immediately.
If you're looking for a good price, I got mine on Ebay from Eastern Performance for $600 flat; however, I've heard they won't sell at that price anymore. Don't know first hand. You can also spend some time in the EFI forum and you'll quickly get the name of a forum member who retails them cheap.
Thanks for the info...I already have been talking to a forum member Shooter64 (bart) that sells them at a good deal. I have purchased items from him in the past and he is a great guy to deal with.
I went with Bart as well. Just ordered a few days ago. I'm excited about trying it out. The only negatives I can find is the higher price compared to simpler units.
just got back from about 25 miles with the new thundermax installed, it's smoooooooooooooooooth. still needs a good tune, they did not have a map that matched my cams/heads so we went with a *close* one which was immediately better than the se map the dealer loaded after the motor bump up.
the install was a little tricky, i took my time over 3 days, looking forward to getting it really dialed in, the supprot person, Randy, sent me a few really good documents on how to make adjustments and such.
it also knocked out my key fob security recognition, so i have to enter in the security code to start the bike but i didn't realze that till zippers support closed. i sent an email, will prolly have an answer when i wake up!
overall i am really pleased with the ecu and the almost infinite realtime mapping should be super kickass!
I installed the system last year, and have been really pleased with it. Easy install, and the software if you read the instructions is easy too. No complaints here at all. The only thing I have done with it since the install is lean the cruise range some for better mpg.
Had an independent shop install the Thundermax about 5 months ago. I've been very satisfied, but the gas mileage is worse than stock.
I bought it because of the auto tune feature. When my warranty runs out in June I plan to get the 95" setup and expect good results from
the tuner.
