Need some help picking a comfortable seat. My ride, a 06 FXDWG still has the stock seat. It starts to hurt my a$$ and lower back after 100-150 miles. Would like to do some long trips this summer and want some opinions on what seats you guys hae tried and whether or not you are happy with them.
I had my stock seat stuffed with miraclefoam by Bar Industries in California. I can only use above 70 degrees but it is great and I can ride twice the distance with no butt vibration. Get a used takeoff seat on ebay and send it to them. The cost was about $200 if I remember correctly and they did a perfect job because you can't tell the stock from the miraclefoam one until you sit on it. FWIW, my sig pic is the miraclefoam seat.
I've got a Corbin now and have had a Mustang in the past. Like'em both although they are quite a bit different. The Corbin is harder but conforms to you butt over time. The Mustang is a bit softer. I have backrest on all my bikes due to back problems myself. Mustang has them all beat hands-down in that catagory. IMHO the Corbin looks a bit better on a smaller bike like the Dyna's. But the cover is leather and requires a little more attention, especially if wet weather gets involved from time to time. Can't go wrong with either IMO.
Mustang and Corbin are good bets, esp. with Corbin's recent price reduction.
Another option if you want to 'customize' the fit of your current seat is to talk with Allen at Mean City Cycles (forum sponsor) - does great work and will work with you to get it the way you want it.
Went to the Mustang Vintage Solo - narrow. Fits me to a T and I've done 11 hour days with no pain. The narrow keeps your kness closer to the bike. Only regret I have is that I didn't get the back rest.
