For those of you buying a PCIII for your dyna.......THE INSTRUCTIONS SUCK for the installation. Wh the hell would u wanna mount the son of a b^*!# behind the electrical box? defeats the purpose of makin changes with buttons if one should ever have to. After fighting witha shoe horn and about 3A.M. in the morn I said this is retarded. I decided to use the spot under the seat instead. But things dont fit there with everything as is.. I cut the plastic support bracket for the ECM made a different bracket from aluminum and now she fits. Just thought I would throw the idea out there for those who wanna access your PCIII without fighting the electrical box and wiring.
I tried to put mine under the seat but there wasn't enough room so I put it behind the electrical box as per instructions. It was a real bitch! The room is very limited and my hands don't fit in there very good. One thing that Fuelmoto told me to do is put the USB cable in the PClll and tuck it away for future changes without having to move the unit. Also the serial # is on the unit so take them off before install if you plan to register for warranty or you can't see them!
I left the USB cable attached to my PCIII and just left it coiled up under my seat. I just pop off my seat plug in my laptop and I can my changes.
Also if you ever change your bikes exhaust or do motor work the dyno tuner will just uncoil and plug in. If you don't have a laptop then your're out of luck.
It is 10 lbs. of chit in a 1 lb. bag.
One more thing get yourself some dielectric grease and slather up the ecm connections. Guys have had problems with water getting into the connections during bike washing myself included.
****, i didn't put that cord on last night and i didn't get the seriel numbers since jamie at fuel moto waranties them for 2yrs do you need the seriel numbers??? or do you just need to keep your sales slip with jamie?
Ya this wasa major pain in my *** trying to get all that **** to fit i finally got it but i was little worried as much as i had to press and move around the factory ecm cable to get it on the front side of the electrical box but i got it. i think iam going to pull it back out and connect the usb and get the serial number.
yes u can wedge it next to your battery box.....but removing the bracket....remaking a new one, and placing on top allowes easy access to your control pad without having to move wires. Im gonna pull it apart today and look at the possibility of makin a plastic plate so its flush and clean lookin....food for thought right now. I will get pics on here in teh next few days. Had my hands full at teh house as it has become a divorce shelter. Seems that the more beer I drink the less I get done......LLTD (laughing like the devil)
