Wifepays all the bills at the end of the monthso I could not hide a purchase as big as pipes! Also she isinto the bike and would notice a change even if I could hide the money. She doesn't spend money without me knowing and I do the same. We both spend a fair amount of money on toys so I'm happy. She has herMasters so I always joke that she may make more money butI spend more!
I understand and was really just having fun with this. For me, it's really more of a game to see what she will notice and when she'll notice it. I've had things on there for months and all of a sudden, she'll ask "is this new?". I wouldn't do it if she got upset about it but she doesn't. I'm the breadwinner of the family by a long shot and, though she may wish I had handed the money I spent on the bike to her, she understands it's mine and I can do with it as I please as long as I get the bills paid first. She gets more than her share, believe me. Just as an example, I put the BR's on my bike in early January. Nothing I've done, IMO, has made a more dramatic change to the appearance of the bike than these pipes. Yet, she stood by it and never noticed. When we got going she noticed that it sounded different but didn't say much more about it. It wasn't until my brother-in-law said "you got the pipes I have been wanting" that it clicked in her head what I had done. But she just smiled and shook her head with nothing more said.
Anyway, good luck with your stage 1. If you like the look and sound of your "shacks", there is certainly no need to change them. With your new A/C and tuner, your bike will breathe and run better and you will definitely notice a difference in throttle response, acceleration, and possible even on the high end as well. You don't have to have full pipes to enjoy the advantages of letting your motor breathe like it should and would if the EPA would stay out of it.
