Local Stealership won't dyno tune because of PCIII
Local dealer picked up 06 Street Bob for some service stuff and to add some after market goodies. Asked them to Dyno tune the bike, stage 1 upgrades with pre-mapped PCIII. He told me they wouldn't touch it because of the PCIII. Then tried to sell me the Harley race tuner for $675.00. Has anyone else encounter this as well with Dyno tuning and the PCIII at there dealer? Also, I upgraded exhaust awhile back with a whole Cycleshack system (not slip ons) there was no port holes for the stock O2 plugs, so I left them out. Which FuleMoto (PCIII) said that was the way it was supposed to be as well as Cycleshack people. Stealer tech said they had to be in and that I was damaging the bike without them in place and also losing out on performance. What do you guys think? I thought I had researched this all out and was confident with my decisions but know this guy is freaking me out. Thanks.[sm=headbang.gif]
RE: Local Stealership won't dyno tune because of PCIII
Time to find a technically competent dealer and get away from that stealer. The PCIII eliminates the usefulness of the 02 sensors (bypasses their signal), so they really aren't needed at that point. I wonder why he was trying to sell you a SERT for $675 when they list for a little over $400 [sm=confused06.gif]
RE: Local Stealership won't dyno tune because of PCIII
Not to make excuses for the stealership, but I imagine they don't know sh*t when it comes to the PCIII so I wouldn't want them messin' with it anyway. Look for an indy that is certified on the PCIII.

Bike has run great since the up grades. No complaints at all. Thought the Dyno tune would fine tune it. Thanks for the input guys. I have a couple of calls to some Indy shops. I thought I was dealing with one of the better Harley shops in PA. I feel better now. Thanks again.

I bought my 06 lowrider from Brian's in PA. I will never go back, seems all there interest in is making money and telling me how I should be part of the FAMILY. I put a PCIII,Arlen Ness Big Sucker II and a set of V/H SHORT SHOTS. The PCIII was remapped where I bought it (EASTERN PERFORMANCE CYCLES) and it runs great. I will have the bike dynoed later this Spring and not by an HD shop. Also the prices at E.P.C. are the best for those componets thatI have found.

If I was a dealer, I wouldn't do it either. It's a non-stock part, and the techs are not trained on it. If something goes wrong, the customer will be back screaming about how they ruined his engine. This is America. If anything ever goes wrong, the first thing to do is look for a scapegoat.
You didn't buy or install it there. Why would you expect them to tune it? You'de be much better off going to a shop that sells, installs, and tunes with that part.
RE: Local Stealership won't dyno tune because of PCIII
Got my PCIII installed 07 at the dealer before I picked it up. They said I could bring it back in and have it Dyno'd any time their suggestion was to wait till after 1000 miles.
I got 2500+, it's running great so I havent bothered to get'er done yet.
RE: Local Stealership won't dyno tune because of PCIII
ya know, its funny... it seems every dealer is different on this matter.
I installed the PCIII myself, but the dealer did the tune... twice for me now (did a pipe swap). When I bought the bike, my sales guy talked up the PCIII and "poo poo'd" the RT.
What can I say, they also "poo poo" HD Oil in favor of the Redline products.

they only reason they are not trained on it is if the dealer management makes that choice. There are plenty of dealers that are DynoJet certified. oh yeah, and they make you sign a waiver
