How about materials? Vinyl vs Leather. I'm looking at the Sport Tourer from CCSeats. I commute mostly with the bike, but the two up seat would be for longer rides, maybe a camping trip coming up in June so the bike would be left outside all night with dew and moisture. My solo (stock vinyl) would be on for commuting, unless the Sport Tourer is really much more comfortable.
I use a stock FXDC seat for two up and my stock FXD solo. I'll get a little monkey butt after about a hundred miles, but that's what the shoulder of the road is for, to take a quick break.
I've learned two things about seats and I'll get some arguments, but here they are.
1. If it looks good it's usually gonna ride like ****.
2. If it rides like a dream, it's usually gonna look like ****.
I have had the mustang vintage 2 up 1 piece, but looks like 2 piece, on several scoots and just ordered another one for my '08 super glide custom. If they weren't so comfy I wouldn't keep buying them. The vintage line isn't overly bulky like the tour line. Check them out on Mustang's site then order from American Classic Motors, best deal I could find after searching 2 weeks. I would rate the stock seat a 1 and Mustang Vintage 8+
I personally don't understand
the solo or barely there two-up" seats. Bikes look awkward without real passenger seats to me. My FXDC '05 has a sundowner, and it's great. Havent tried one but I hear the Mustangs a very good.
