Default Need Help! Luggage Rack for 06 Wide Glide

Just bought a chrome luggage rack for my 06 Wide Glide. Got it off eBay and it didn't come with installation instructions. Doesn't look hard, but I want to do it right. It uses the seat screw and looks like the other end connects to the license plate bracket, although there isn't any existing holes. Does anybody know how these install?

Depends on which luggage rack ya got! Any pics? Need more info to help ya.

The ones I've seen, if you have a solo seat, use the two-up rear seat hole. Otherwise you may have to drill a hole if the rack isn't for your model/year application.

That sounds like the one I got for my 07 DWG. Yes I did have to drill holes in the plastic mounting plate.

Is it the curved round stock type? I had to drill holes in the plastic license/tailight bracket. It was hard to get a straight hole. Not a lot of room to work with the fender on. The rack works great and looks good. I did'nt use the beefed up mounting hardware for the rear seat bolt that comes with the kit however. The stock setup seems plenty sturdy.

Thanks for the info. The one I got looks like the one on Topspin's above. Wasn't sure what the extra hardware was for, but sounds like it for the seat mounting. Also, it sounds like I may not even need it.
Thanks again for the help.

Yes... You will have to drill two holes through the plastic. And as previously stated, there is not a lot of room to get in there perfectly straight... but overall it is very easy to do.
