Default RE: Super Glide or Super Glide Custom?

Thanks for all your advice. Here is how the screw up happened....

I went in last fall and the dealer had a leftover 2007 Street Bob demo. I gave him $500 to hold the bike for a few days and after thinking about it for a while, I decided that I really didn't want a kicked around demo and I decided to order a new 2008 Super Glide Custom. Given that it was October, I thought I would order a new one and wait until the spring to sell my old bike (Honda Shadow) when it is more of a sellers market. I called the dealer and told him to transfer the $500 to a new order for a 2008 Super Glide Custom and we negotiated the price over the phone. I asked him if I had to come in and sign anything and he said he wouldn't have anything to sign until the bike was built and HD provided him with a serial # (which wouldn't happen until at least January). I finally heard back from him last week when he called me to say that the bike had arrived. I haven't signed anything and he doesn't have an issue refunding my $500. I don't think he is trying to screw me....I think he just got mixed up and ordered the wrong thing.

I was just waffling between the two models and wondering if I should pony up the extra cash for the FXDC. I guess it really boils down to which model I like better. In fact, the real issues is....to chrome....or not to chrome . You "Street Bobbers" ought to understand what its like to forgo the Chrome option in favor of a back to basics bike.

Jordan.

I know that the Custom is one of the better deals for a Dyna, but every time I see one at the local dealer, I am glad I got the FXD. It's sweet and unpretentious. I get compliments on my bike all day and it is still bone stock after 6000 miles. I know you should get what you wanted, but just take another closer look at the FXD and ask yourself, am I going to ride it or am I going to look at it. A wise man on this forum once said, "If it says custom on it, it isn't!"

Peace.

Go with the FXDC.
The chrome primary is easier to keep clean than the painted one.
You will be happier with the speedo/tank setup and it will be easier add and adjust a windshield if you want it later.
The chrome battery band looks a lot better than the FXD one.
I am guessing the FXDC has forward controls. If it does then there is another costly item you won't have to add later.

the very reason my bike is at the stealer and not in my garage is because we negotiated a deal and they havent come through yet . sure they offered to give me the money back on the parts they are to install or just back out of the deal all together. but I am just as bull headed as they areliking there nutsand Im not budging one bit. there incompetence is not going to cost me any more money , but it is going to cost them me being a pain in the *** until I get what I want. dont let them blow smoke up your butt obviously you liked the custom that is what you ordered , I came close to buying a custom myself but being the freak I am about things like dual disk brakes and solid or mag wheels I went with the fat bob . I like to be able to plug a tire and get my self home but thats just me and that is why its nice to have options . I will say the custom is a beautiful bike and dont think you could go wrong with one.

It's really a disision yoy need to make. You ordered a custom so that must be what you want. I know I wouldnt have taken a custom over an fxd due to what I wanted in a bike.

+1 for the FXD over the Custom. Although the Custom was not even offered when I bought my FXD, I've ridden the Custom and as nice a bike that it is, I like the FXD better, just a personal choice. It gave me a better blank canvas to start my own customizing. If you want the Custom that is already blilnged out to your liking, see if they'll deal on it a little. If not, the way the 08's are sitting at dealers lately, it should not be hard to find the bike you really want.

There is a grand$, difference between the 2 models.........so if money is tight (and we all know sales are down) take the fxd for the factory price of 11,999.............or tell 'em get my fxdc and I'll give ya 12,999 for it since ya screwed up, ...............there are couple of ways to play this, AND HEY they are both in your favor.....................Soooooooooo the very BOTTOM line is (and what you have to ask yourself late at night and all alone[8D]..........[sm=confused06.gif]Do I like Chrome) Which one would you like to look at more!!!.

Now I know a lot of folks here all say blah blah blah it's only for riding anyway and do you want to look at it or ride it?.........If that was really true then how come we spend thousands in mods?

My vote is for the fxdc ...............but I am kinda patial to polishing chrome while I drink[sm=icon_cheers.gif]

Chrome won't get you home, but it sure looks good pushin it.

I got the FXD 'cause I didn't want the chrome, planned to swap out the seat anyway, preferred non spoked wheels, like the speedo where I can see it w/out taking my eyes far from the road, wanted passenger boards instead of the pegs, the thousand dollar difference bought my riders essential package and a couple other reasons.

Tha being said, you should get what you really want and if it's the C then that's what you should be buyin.
IMHO if chrome is your thing, the C is the better deal.

Went with the FXD myself I liked the spoked wheels better and I did not care that much about the extra chrome. If the FXDC is really what you want make the dealer get it for you, I can not imagine they could not come up with one some where.
