currently in the shop having the trans replaced after it ate 4th gear and the main clutch bearing.......6 speed revtech box and a bdl 3" belt drive seems no match for 130 of BHP and 130 lbf of torque
which has put back the plans to uprate the front end and the design of a single sided rear swing arm with a 8"x17 or 18 rim in there.
ribcracker, let me ask a stupid question. I have been reading the oil related forum trying to figure out where my drain plug is but mine doesn't seem to look like what they describe. Can you please tell me where it is. I also read that the dip stick is for the transmission and thats where I have been puttin my 20/50 motor oil. whats the scoop on that.
The big one on the top of the trans with a dipstick is for your engine oil which you just twist and pull to remove, the plug not the dipstick that is
The smaller oneon the right hand side ofthe trans end cover above where your clutch cable endsis for filling the trans, if its standard this should need an allen key to remove.
drain plugs are underneath. I would take a pic and post it but like I said mines in the shop in bits not at home where it should be.
hum how about 155 on a uphill gradent being chased by a mate on a zx12-r who complained he had to really work it to keep up every time I got on the gas. Yeah He had Me on top end his thing does 200 but I out run him up thorugh the gears and look a lot cooler doing sat up with t bars and forwards not curled up like a monkey
I had a '93 FXDL. Nice bike. I have a lot of stories. The best thing you can do for your bike is to let it warm up. Give it about 3-4 minutes before you ride out on it. Don't use the choke. Lock it down with the thumbscrew at 1500, and then readjust it after about a minute or so. Your gaskets will thank you.
I've got a '95 FXDL, had it since last summer. I was going to trade it in on a late model bagger, and just couldn't bring myself to do it. As such, I'm having the suspension upgraded and forward controls put in next week. From there, I'll upgrade the soft leather bags to some Tsukayu leather-covered hard bags with some quick-release pins and get a custom seat. It should be comfortable enough then, and I can pop the bags off to give it a more "street" look.
Hey guys, thanks for the new posts. Just finished changing the oil and filter for that first time and fixin to go take a little test ride. Ribcracker, I bet you did look a whole lot cooler than your buddy. I don't have a clue as to what a zx 12-r is except guessing its some kind of screaming rice burner. I have only hit a little over 100 mph once or twice just to see what it would do but down here where I live the traffic is to heavy and the cops like to hide to much. Catch ya'll later cause I got to get my ride in before the rush hour traffic really screws things up.
well I live just norht of londond so the traffics heavy here and there are speed traps all over as well Yeah its a rice burner kawasaki zx12-r one of the worlds fastest production bikes helped by the fact My Bro is like unfeed orpahn and weighs just over 120 lb agaisnt My 270. I am trying to lure Him to the dark side but I know i have a fight on My hands there.
the dyna is a great bike. All things to all men. It handles like a sporty and has more grunt crusies like a softtail without the vibes and can do the distance like a bagger but looks good when ya get there. I notice you have engine bars on did you concider going for some highway pegs on them instead of the expense of forwards?
