Default 1998 Lowriders

I would like to hear from anyone out there who has or has had a 98 Lowrider. Nothing against all the other bikes out there, but I just bought my first Harley, a 98 Lowrider, and would like to learn all I can on things specific to it. Thing that work, don't work, funny stories, that time you broke down in the snowy desert and had to push your bike 12 miles up hill both ways to get it fixed. If you got pics, post them because I can read pics, lol. Seriously, anything to do with the 98 Lowriders would be a big help to me. I'm working on getting some pics of my ride posted but it's been tough with no digital camera. Thanks and may all your rides be, well rides.

Surely somebody out there has or has had a 98 Lowrider. I can't be the only one because that would be just way to cool.

I have a 1998 Lowrider with S&S Super E Carburetor. I bought it from a former teammate of mine who didn't ride it much. He bought it from someone in Myrtle Beach that also didn't ride it much. It runs fine. I did repace the starter the other day, since it was pretty much shot. It starts a lot easier now. The bike only has 12545 miles on it, but not for long, since I ride it every day. The first owner spent a forture on chrome, which in my opinion is totally worthless because it has nothing to do with function. It does look nice, but that don't get it down the road. I previously had a 1992 FXRS-sp Lowrider Sport. It was a great bike. I was stupid to get rid of it.

Thanks for responding BlackAngus. I was getting worried that nobody had one. I ride my bike everyday, too! I don't know to much background on mine since I bought from a used bike dealer. I've already put over 2000 miles on it since I bought it Feb.2, 08. Being my first H.D. and first bike in about 10 or 12 years, its still a big learning curve for me. Been having a blast on it so far and sure beats the price of diesel for my truck.

Still hard to believe that there's not more 98 LR's out there or that no one wants to talk about them. If I could have afforded another $5000 for an 06 or 07 I probably would have bought another Goldwing, just kidding. I did like my 88 1500 6cyl Goldwing for a full dressed out touring bike, it was really smooth and quiet but the days of me taking really long trips are over and my LR suits me just fine ridin everyday back an forth cross town. I know there's more of us out here so please holler back!

I have a fxdl as well. Why go for a twin-cam when you can stick a nice 124" S&S in it. Real street sleeper well for now

I have a 96' Lowrider...love it. Had the opportunity to order a new bike, even dropped the deposit on a new Heritage. My wife then dropped the "you need to sell the Lowrider in order to buy the new Heritage", line on me. I got my deposit back.... . I didn't think I could hide another Harley in the garage without her seeing it! The only problem I had with mine was the front motor mount cracked and needed to be replaced. Right now it is in its "winter modification mode", and torn apart once again. I am currently adding new wheels (DNA 80 spoke twisteds), and tires (Metzeler 880's). Then I am putting the lowered Progressives in the rear and maybe the front depending on the geometery...and replacing the kickestand. I'll post pics when done...

Kool, I knew there was some more people out there. I take it that by winter mods you must live up north. I ride mine just about everyday so no winter mods for me, lol. I finally took a couple of pics of mine the other day, now I got to wait on my Moma to get them developed (her camera what can I say!) and then I'll post them. I know there's got to be more than 4 of us with older Lowriders and new/old stories so come on, holler back at us.
