Guys I am not trying to make anyone mad on this forum. I believe in letting people be themselves. But I have owned my Streebob for approx. 1 1/2 yrs.I look at my bike everyday with the original emblems stating Harley Davidson and I think it shows that I like things made in America. I am not knocking the other makes and brands of bikes. One of my best friends has owned several but now owns a Hertiage Classic. The reason that I am posting this is because of I like the way my bike was and is designed. I think that any Harley looks good with the original emblems on it. I would not want to change anything on my bike.
But to each his own. I would post pictures but do not have the type of computer system that would let me. My bike is a 06 Street bob, Cobalt Blue with forwards byKuy.
Man, I can't wait to get my hands on anything I buy for a ride and change it (some might say 'customize') both for style and function. When I was a kid I built model cars (still do actually!), and never once built it straight out of the box following the instructions. Guess I'm just a hot rodder at heart (see gallery)!
But hey, everyone is entitled to envision their ride as they choose, and if that means stock, yeah, it does have a certain pristine, virginal beauty to it. Just not something I particularly care for. Well, pristine virgins are OK!
I didn't really like much about my Bob when I first bought it, except the price and the color. I had actually gone to the Stealer that day to buy a Softail Standard, but ended up riding out on the Bob.
After several mods and re-mods, I now have it pretty much where I want it, although I still have several parts/accessories I've collected but not yet installed. The main thing I am still lacking is a Dyno tune, but even that is on the horizon.
After two years on my Dyna, I don't regret passing on that Softie.
Luther, there are some that would say why change to Kury forwards when the bike was designed with and is more pure with the mid-controls or at least with HD forward controls. I have Kury's too so I'm not pickingon you. But, you saw fit to change to forwards because you obviously like them better. Some may choose to change the tank badges because it suits them better. It's still a Harley any way you slice it. Actually, the only thing I disliked about my bike was the tank badges. I bought a replacement set that look a lot like the ones on the fatbobs only without the "letter opener". But, I can't bring myself to change them just yet. The Moco has no problem with us making our bike our own. They even encourage it to some degree. I even remember when I was looking at the dyna's, the standard FXD was described in the brochure as something to the effect of "a raw canvas on which you can add your own touches from endless possibilities". That's not verbatim but it was something like that.
Thanks guys, like I said not trying to upset anyone. I have looked and some the bikes on the forum and some look very nice and it appears very expensive to change from the stock to the after market items. I am not that mechanically inclined. My bike is still under warranty and I take it back and make the dealer fix it. Still have at least 1 1/2 yrs. to go. The dealer that I bought from is very good about honoring there commitments. I have been thinking about windshield for long rides to help block the wind. Here in Texas we get alot of windthis time of year. Riding for a couple of hrs. can wear on a person strenght.
Any suggestions for a good price and easy to put on and take off.
