Default Yet another Fuelpak question

All the comparisons lately between the Fuelpak and PCIII have left me wondering a couple of things. Would the FP be dyno-tunable if V&H released more info on what each setting does or are there other issues? And if so, does anyone think/know of any plans for them to release that info in the future? I recently installed a FP andthe bike'snot running well, but I haven't had time to work with V&H to get it corrected. Even if I get the popping under control, I will always wonder if it's running as good as it could be. So, just hoping there might be a brighter future ahead for the Fuelpak.

Who knows. I'd assume the Fuelpak is what it is and will stay that way. If it isn't working for you, go with something else or contact them to help you resolve the issues. I wouldn't wait around hoping they'll release their modes and codes.

Fuelpack is crap, got rid of mine for a PC3, but I still recommend & prefer ThunderMax, it works well with the closed loop.

Stupid question, but are you sure you have it programmed correctly? I could not be happier with the way my bike runs. I am overall VERY IMPRESSED!

I have the FP and will tell you, with the 95" kit I had installed last year, the dyno guy was 2 days trying to get the bike running right! At the time, V&H did not have settings for my new setup. So he ended up using a setup from another bike with close to what I have. It ran so-so, had some popping on decel and in between shifts if I got on it hard. I contacted V&H and they said they would try and come up with something. Well, finally last summer, they had some new settings. Bike ran just a little bit better but still have popping. I have since contacted a local indy who said the best thing to do is remap the ecm using his laptop . He does this quite alot, so I am going to try that route. Basically take the FP out of the system...It ran pretty good BEFORE I did the 95" upgrade.

LtRex,

Seems to be programmed right. I have done it twice and it still runs the same. I'm not really knocking the FP yet, still need to work with it and Vance &Hines more before I give up on it. I knew going into it, itwas the cheaper and riskier way to go. Most people seem to get pretty good results with it, but a few don't. I figured I would take a chance. Was just wondering what makes the PCIII tunable and the FP not. Seems like I read V&H wasn't giving out info, to the tuners, on what number does what.

Railbird,

What pipes and intake do you have? With me, I am running the V&H Slip-ons and SE Air Kit. I felt comfortable going with the Fuel Pak because I was not set up with anything out of the ordinary. I figured Vance and Hines was working with known variables (exhause/intake/engine) and would be able to give me the proper settings, and they did!

I hope you get it worked out cause that sure is annoying when things don't work out like you hope.

LtRex,

Big Sucker AC and Big Radius 2-1 pipes. Going with V&H pipes factored intomy decision to get the FuelPak as well.

Just curious, how easy is it to get a V&H tech on the phone and do they want you next to the bike, ready to try any changes, while they have you on the line.

Thanks

railbird,

I don't know about calling customer service, cause my setup runs amazingly well! It is my understanding that you call, advise the problem you are having and they tell you to try a slightly modified setting (no need to be at your bike).

Good luck bud!!

Rex
