My first post here. The 2001 FXDXT Dyna T-Sport I just purchased is being delivered tomorrow. I am so excited like a kid on Christmas. Been riding Road Kings for the past 8 years and just looking for a sportier ride. The T-Sport is supposed to be a real good handler, as well as very functional, and I've been smitten for years. Finally a great buy on a really really clean bike. I'm a little nervous about having it shipped sight unseen. Really apprehensive is more like it. But it's supposed to warm up to 59 tomorrow afternoon and I'm so looking forward to giving her a good welcome to her new home.
My plans for the bike:
First stage: Since it comes almost all blacked out, I'm installing black clutch and front brake levers, replacing the black square mirrors with black tapered mirrors, and replacing the stock grips with some old school waffled rubber ones.
Second stage: getting the stock aluminum wheels powdercoated black, and replacing the Dunlop tires with Metzlers.
Third stage: Engine work, either a full blown $5K Powerpack 3 125hp, a $2.5K Powerpack 1 for about 100-105hp, or a cheap mild 88 effort. Not sure at this point.
Only thing to change all that is if I get on the bike tomorrow and don't like it. Did I mention I'm very anxious?
Check out sharkey's rideif you needsome inspiration. Definitley post some pics when you get it.
DITTO : Hey Dawg, where did you get those boards ? Best looking I've ever seen on a Dyna, they don't look contrived at all, looks stock. Where they bolt ons or did you have to do some fab work ?

They are factory Dyna Defender (police model)boards. They bolt on up through '05, but the kits are obsolete (you can still get the parts individually). Some forum members have been adapting them (or softtail boards) to '06 and newer Dynas, but it takes a little modding to do that. If the search is working again you can find a bunch of threads on boards. They work great, especially together with the highway pegs.
