180X55X18 rear = $159.00 here, Ihave found that they have just about the best prices around.
Well the tire on that ebay link is an 18" that is what I went by.
You might also look at the RoadTec Z6 great handling tire and is lasting very well, I put front and rear my last tire change and will continue to do so untill they don't make them any more.
180 on stock 17x4.5 wheel is not recommended. It will fit, but not recommended because of the width of the wheel that the beadsof the tire wont hold for a whileuntilu go at least 60+ mph thenit'll go boom - the tire will come off the bead line of the wheel and wheel will hit the ground. Best suggestion to run 180 is to get 18x5.5 wheel or get metzlers 170 if u want to use ur 17" wheel.
well thats got me thinking ..i thought a 180 tire would fit on stock sg wheel..i know they make the wide tire kit180/60/17 se for the 06 dyna's..its suppost to be a stock replacment tire jut a little wider..
HUH? i have a 180 on a stock rim... that is even what HD recomends as the "wide tire kit" the 200 is to big for the 4.5... is that what you mean? i am on my 2nd 180... no problem
from my research, metzler 880 180 tires isnt best with stock wheel. But Screamin' Eagle 180 can fit on stock wheel. I've seen a lot of my friends run 180 metzlers on stock wheel. Their beads didnt hold up well. Then they use Screamin' Eagle, result- the tire wears out fast - around 3k tops. with metzler on wide wheel last up to around at least 7k or more, IMO.
I'm using SE 180 on rear wheel but I have no good experience with it. It is not so stable in the rain. What about fatbob rear wheel on SB? Has anybody seen it?
Just bought a Me 880 170/60/17 for an 06 lowrider. The 17" rim.
THAT TIRE IS 8mm OR 1/4" SMALLER / NARROWER THAN THE STOCK HARLEY DUNLOP 160/70/17. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Took pic of them but they didn't turn out good as to see the difference.
I have a set of Brand spankin new Metz 170/60/17" Rearand 90/90/19 Front if you want.
hddave2, I saw you post this in another thread looking for a rear tire. Does Metzeler make a 180 for the 17" rim???
I posted this same info above.
I could not find one. The 18" rim, YES they do make the 180 for that rim.
I finally went with the SE 180.
Sig pic Does not reflect the new tire. Will have it on soon with the wideglide Mod and a 21" up front.
