I haveused the search but could not find answer to a couple of questions.
When changing rear wheel do you guys take out the retaining pins on the rear brake caliper (as per manual) or not?By taking them out doesit make the job easier?I already changed the wheel without removing them but was not easy and I don't want to scratch my wheel.
Next question--I now have some spendy chrome wheels and don't have tire changing equipment and don't want the wheels scratched or torn up if ya know what I mean-- so where do you take wheel for tire replacment? Dealership?
I do as much as I can when it comes to working on my bike as it is fun and of course it feels good to know that you've save a few bucks.
Thanks!! Had to come back and tell ya that I have a 07 fxd--can't believe I forgot that --I'm a dope! heehee
Thanks for the reply Out1aw! I will do the same as you. I was just wondering if removing rear brake cal pins would make things easier. On thewheel changing--I have heard about tire changing equipment that won't harm the rims in any way--I guess when it's time for tire change I will ask about it then. Thanks again.
I've had my rear wheel off 8-10 tiimes in the past 2 years for various wheel and tire changes and haven't done anything to the rear caliper except slip it off and back over the rotor and feed the axle through it. No need to take the pins out of the caliper unless you're doing something else.
As far as your wheels, any dealer of Indy shop should be able to change a tire w/o scratching up your chrome.
