I'm on an itouch please forgive speeling. I'm courious to know if ne one has been to as bike week? I'm planning on going to it n a few weeks just curious war to expect.
IMO, there are great roads to ride around the Phoenix Valley but bike week is just a gimmick to get riders into the area to spend money. Come and ride but don't expect a biker brotherhood type gathering like Daytona or Stugis downtown. The events are spread out over an area about 60 miles square (Cave Creek on the north to Sun lakes on the South and Waddell on the west to Apache Junction on the east) with the best riding outside the square. Expect as much as an hours ride from some valley locations to reach the fun stuff. There are many great riding opportunities around the valley but ones does not need Bike Week to enjoy them.
Here you go from a local. I live in Scottsdale, AZ and have attended 1 AZ Bike Week in the last 10 years. I have lived here for over 15 years. AZ Bike Week is the worst of any event I have attended. To enter the main event area, unlike Daytona, Sturgis, or even Laughlin, you are tagged with an entrance fee. The same people and tent exhibits that are in Daytona or here in the Phoenix area at the Westworld grounds where the majority of the tents are set up.
Everything else is spread out over the Phoenix area, which does suck. There is no single place which is set up like Daytona, or to set up. So the City or those planning the event state.
Most of the good riding is up to the North or South. I usually leave the valley area and enjoy other parts of the State at this time, or even leave the State.
IMHO, AZ Bike Week is not worth the time or effort.
I got that feeling just from looking at the events calendar! It looked all helter skelter. I mean, if there's a band you want to see or a dealership you wanted to visit you could plan for that night...but other than that it looks like you said..all over the place!

I wish the Phoenix Metro area was that small. The Metro Phoenix areawhich hasover 4.5 million peopletakes upa lotof Maricopa County which is over 9000 square miles in size. That's a pretty far cry from 60 Sq miles. There are some good events going on but they are spread all over which is actually a good thing. Lots of good riding in Arizona and we ride all year long.
