I tried to search this but did not come up with anything. I contacted Speeds performance shop via email and asked them about replacing my plug wires with their version that is stated to increase hp any where from 2-8 hp. Maybe its possible. I also asked the question about the codes that can come about if any wires are used besides the factory ones and this is what I got in reply.
There are rumors out there with the '07 and '08 bikes that the high performance wires cause radio frequency problems. We have seen no such issue on the bikes we have installed them on. (Probably like 50 sets or more so far) I believe it is a rumor HD put out there so you will stay with their products only. The '05 I have never heard of this problem ever occurring so either way you will be fine. I would recommend putting Iridium NGK spark plugs and our SPP wires on. We have seen any where from 2-8 hp gains. Just let me know what you would like to do. We just put on several sets at Daytona bike week and seen really nice results. You can either order online or call me at 763-241-0537 to order. Hope that answers your questions. Thanks
So I am looking to get these. They are about 60 bucks plus shipping. Anyone got some input on this for me and others that are thinking of doing this? Thanks.
Save your money. You are not gonna get 2-8 hp from anybody's spark plug wires unless yours are damaged. If there is nothing wrong with your wires, you will gain nothing by replacing them.
IMO, you are well suited to avoid "Speeds" at any cost. They are little more than a bunch of gypsies in a rolling truck that will do your work and be gone when you need a follow up. I know of more than one person who has walked away disappointed after getting a "Speeds Special" at a bike event.
Interesting. Thanks alot. Thats what I am looking for before I make a purchase. Dont really want to throw 60 bucks away when thats a tank of gas for the truck these days.
They responded to my email quickly and from all the magazine articles that I have read on them it seemed they were a decent company. There isnt anything wrong with mine at all just thought it would possibly make it a little more effecient.
