Fender Support Brackets, Chrome?
I have taken the tank graphic off my Street Bob. The only two matching parts are the fender support brackets and the battery band. I can get wrinle black fender supports here: http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/g...bmLocale=en_US
and probably pick up a chrome batterycover; or I'd be willing to go with crome for all three pieces. Does anyone have an idea how much it would cost to take my pieces and get them chromed, verses buying buying new? Does anyone have the PN# or another source for chrome support brackets?
The 06 Street Bob came with chrome strut covers. The part numbers are 59138-06 and 59171-06 which are right and left. I almost positive they will fit the 07s and 08s. I'm pretty sure it would be cheaper to buy new chrome than to have yours chromed unless you have a friend in the business. I have an 06 Bob and I am changing the tank emblems as well.
Good luck
I asked my stealership about those exact wrinkle black strut covers. According to what we found, they will not fit '06 - '08 Dynas. If you look closely, the area where the shock bolts on is a different shape. It was just different enough on the '05 and older models that they won't fit the '06 and newer.
I'm going the opposite direction you are and getting my stock covers powder coated. Shop around, but I'm betting you can get OEM chrome covers cheaper than buying the wrinkle black and having them chromed at shop.
Here's a crhome set on ebay for $51. They don't list the Harley part numbers, but you can tell from the pics that they are significantly different from the '05 FXD wrinkle black covers.
I just checked with the dealer on chrome ones for my 07 Bob and they ran $106 each side! If you get the part number you can order them for Zanotti's or Chicago Harley and save yourself about $75.
I think it's annoying that Harley lists everything else for the bike in chrome except for those.
I have been keeping an eye out for a cheap set to have powder coated to reduce down time. But it looks like my 06 chrome ones will get blasted and powdered. Total waste of a chrome set, but what ya gonna do.
