round ac cover on an 88
I've got what I believe is the SE round K&N ac on the scoot now with the stock football cover. The filter element itself says " for use with TC 88 cover only" What would stop me from putting on a round 8" cover?

If you're talking cover 29138-91, you need PN 29591-99; it's a sponge stick-on gasket to space the a/c out so you can screw it on snug without wrecking the screw hole

i am using a cover from a evo just need to build up gaskit on air cleaner with some foam gaskit on top of the other gaskit.bought some at ace hrdware.works great you can pick em off ebay between 10 and 25 bux
The reason you need to use a gasket of some sort is to keep the round cover from vibrating and cracking the center out of your element. Been there. Done that......Twice. The first time itcracked and I fixed the crack with some JB Weld. Not long after, it cracked again in a different spot. It only took about 2k miles to do it the first time. After learning that lesson, I put a couple of rubber washers on the bolt and use some 1/4" foam weather stripping on the rubber gasket on the front of the element to act as a cushion.
