Default Pullin' wires through triple trees

Need some help. First off, I do have the service manual, but want member knowledge before taking off my tank..a little cautious.

I have the front end taken off my 06bob,and need the tripletrees taken off for powdercoat. The wires from the handlebars run through the trees. My question is, are thedisconnects for the wires under the tank?

And if so, I read that you can slide the tank down just far enough to get to the wires...eliminating the need to purge the fuel andtake the whole tank off.

Thanks

The plugs are under the tank. You may be able to just unbolt and slide the tank back without taking it off - sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. When I put my taller apes on there was an extra 6" of wiring for the switches in the backbone so you can never tell.

You confirmed what I thought I read in other posts, thanks. It's a little easier sliding the tank down the backbone then removing the whole thing. I'm gonna give it a try and see what happens.

Appreciate the help

on the streetbob under the front of tank/headstock is a plastic cover, pop this of to get at plugs 2x delphi 2x black connectors for indicators, these can be pulled through the hole on the top front left of frame if you remove rubber grommet,to stop switch blocks snagging i wrap mine in clingfilm to smooth out sharp corners & clips on connector blocks

Hey,
I just swapped bars on my 98 wide glide to internal wired tall apes. The wiringconnectors are in the frame staggered, meaning the more you pull, the more came out there's more than one ..you have to pull pretty hard and watch that the connector(s) doesn't get caught on the frame opening. That's how it was on the 98. I pulled the tank (and dumped gas all over the place) I don't regret pulling the tank... I liked the piece of mind of not having the accidental hitting and scratching risks.
After you figure out how to pull the connector pins (Manual shows how) it's all asnap.

At the very least I would still recommend purging the fuel line and disconnecting the quick disconnect from the tank. That fuel line is expensive if you break it, that's another story. On the other end it's a plastic quick disconnect going into the injectors. HD won't sell you that part either, they sell the entire fuel line.
