Leather HALF Chaps
Just read a post about whether or not to buy chaps...Thought I would post this for anyone interested.
No offense to anyone, but I refuse to wear full chaps - just don't like 'em. I thought that "leg gators" would be perfect for keeping my lower legs from going numbin cold weather - always were the coldest parts. Searched online and found a couple of half chaps designed for riding, but they looked really lame. While searching, I discovered that half chaps are very common in "Equestrian" circles - horseback riders wear them all the time.
If you look them up, you'll see they fit very tight on the lower leg...I live in Central CA, so there are plenty of tack/riding stores around here, so I decided to go check them out. Scored a pair made from VERY nice leather for $60. I wear them under my jeans and they fit perfect. They zip up the side andwrap over the front of my boots. Very comfortable and they work. Keep my legs warm and noone can even tell I have them on.
BTW - On long rides, I wear jeans with chain mail sewed in to protect against road rash (they look like regular jeans).
Thanks.
