Default Introduction and question....

Greetings,
My name is Rick and i am new to the Forums. Alittle bit about myself. I am in the US ARMY and currently stationed in Baghdad, Iraq on my second tour of duty. 3 months before I deployed i made the best purchase of my life...'08 Street Bob, "The Hog". Since i have been deployed, the hog has been stored at a friend's house in Texas. Every 5 days or so he is starting it and letting it run for a little, and taking it around the block so that the tires and none of the seals go bad. Is there anything else that i should let him know about storing it? He is worried that the gas will ruin before I get home for mid-tour leave. I have also started buying mods for the hog, so far i have only got a set of Vance n' Hines Big Shot Staggards. I am still in debate of what fuel tunner i should get though. I also wated to ask: whats the difference in a stage I, stage II, and high flow air intakes? I dont really know what is compatable with each other and i really want to keep everything on a semi-budget...lol. I must be going though, big things are always going on here...lol. talk to everyone soon.

Welcome! First, be safe there. I spent some time there also. I've got an 06 Dyna with the BSS, an open K&N filter and a PCIII, runs and sounds great.

Thanks for all your hard work! It seems like you have the storage covered. Your gas should last anywhere from 6-12 months; however, with your friend riding it I don't believe that you will have any problems. Stage 1 and 2 difference I'm not sure but I do know that most people go with the stage 1 which is just a filter upgrade and I believe stage 2 is more intensive for high performance applications ( feel free to correct me anyone).I would suggest the new pipes, Stage 1 intake and a remap of the computer through the dealer. Good luck and stay safe.

first, thank you for your service. starting it up for a few minutes is not the best thing for it. fill it up and add stable to it . it is a fuel treatment and will preserve your fuel. if you have a lift. jack it up so the tires are off the concrete. if not, park on an old piece of carpet. i also pull my plugs and spray foging oil in each one and put them back in. your bike should be good for a year

thanks bikerdog, he dosent really let it run for a few minutes though, he has been starting it and letting it run while he has a smoke and then takes it about 5-10 miles, he has been parking it on the carpet though, again thanks a bunch for the info, and thanks for all the support, none of us soldiers could do what we do without the support from back in the states

Rick, I would check out the DFO for your fuel manager. They will give you about $100 off because you are in the military: http://www.techlusion.com/

Thanks for serving and I hope your tour goes quick so you can get home and ride!

I'd get a Ness Big Sucker, best bang for the buck and it uses a K&N filter that lasts virtually forever: http://www.easternperformance.com/in...oducts_id=1206
It's for a stage 1 setup like yours.

Stage 2 generally means new cams, big bore kit, heads, etc. Some people then go with an even higher air flow filter and that's probably what you are referring to. For your setup the Ness should work great.

First off and most important,
THANK YOU, STAY SAFE

Now to the scoot. I have had V&H Short shot staggered with Stage 1 AC kit and then I put on the PCIII, and the PCIII was worth every penny I spent on it.You need to figure what you want if you are working on a somewhat budget. I only say this cause I am also, so I have decided that the main motor area I am not going to touch (cams, heads ect) there is enough motor there. Instead I am working on looks, driveablilty ect. So figure out what you want, cause either way it is not cheap, ie. HD = Hundred Dollars (per part, Ha Ha )
