Okay peoplesI am installing some v&h shortshots and a SE stage 1 this weekend. I am not familiar with working on a motorcycle but I have done the forward controls, timer cover, passenger peg mounts and the rest of the pegs. I was wondering how hard and long it is going to be for me to do these mods. My dad said he wanted to do it too since he hasnt changed his pipes yet. So I have myself and one other doing this project. I am also wrapping the pipes in the tan heat wrap. Everyone seems to be going with the black so I am going with some contrast.
I am looking for comments abt the installation. All advise is welcomed and appreciated....kinda like a heads up about certain crap that gets tricky. Thanks to all on this website. I would have been spending around 250 for install but talking to people on here as got me wanting to do it myself!!
Soon as its done there will be pics up.. Promise since i dont even have any one here yet!
Usually takes two people for the pipes, so you don't drop them. They can be a bit of a tight squeeze getting them around the cylinders, butbe patient and go slow. Other than that, it's all pretty straight forward. If you can do forwards, you can definately handle these installs.
You need new gaskets PN# 65324-83A
and retaining rings PN# 65325-83A
Don't let anyone talk you into the Screaming Eagle gaskets.
Get the stock item.
Just take your time, one man can handle this,
no need for four hands.
Of course to have your dad there would be a bonus.
