1st of all thanks for the upgrade tips, I will look into that. I drive that corner every day on the way to work, its good at 60, fair at 70, obiously no good above, wont be trying that again anytime soon.
I guess I was expecting too much, I rode an FXRP for yrs and I could take those corners so fast and low you could reach out and touch the pavement, diferent bike, wont work on this one.
As to why I got the bob instead of a vrod, I dont much like the vrods, impresive but not my style. I can play tag cut lanes(legal in this state) up to a pretty good level on the bob, just got to watch the corners.
Dont think Im expecting to keep up with ducati's in the turns, Im not, I just expected more, and thanks for some clarification.
I dont ride like that all the time, but I dont know about every one else, it seems every crotch rocket on the planit picks me and wants to f*** with me, so when I can I let em have it. I outran two out of 3 last night, not bad, the ducati was nip n tuck till the corners.
Now I know there are CR's that can totally blow me off the road, but i put on a good show when I can.
I will look into a few upgrades, I really expect more cornering ability than Im getting, I dont need to be racing anybody to have fun leaning into a good corner. I was thinking for a start mayby a heavier wt oil in the front, pain in the *** that it is to change with what I gather is HD briliant decision to NOT put drain plugs on the lowers.
Any other sugestions Im all ears, there are folks on here with way more technical expertease than I.
nice to know someone else rides as hard as me.....i live close to the dragon so i ride it alot....wore off 2 sets of foot pegs..lol

Hey arnold glad you like to let her rip. In my opinion decent progressive front spings andrearshocks will help. But at the end of the day your still on a bike weighing 600lbs.or so. With the limited ground clearence spending much more money would probably be fruitless. I know what you mean by the slight weave / head shake in corners but i,ve found its at least predictable and does,nt lead to a tank slapper or anything too dramatic. Christ back in the 60/70,s most of the stuff was as bad, at least now we have decent tyres to take up the slack..........remember those Avon "slipmaster"?

WOW! There's the other guy that thinks a Harley should handle much better; I was wondering where you were...
The FXR was a full bodied passenger lighter than your present ride, for starters. Also, stock suspension sucks; no rebound dampening for one. There's also about a half ton of unsprung weight and the whole swingarm/tranny/engine assembly is free to bounce around in the frame due to the stock rubber mounting system. I was seriously looking for an FXR to build on beforeI found out about the FXDX/T's; the twin cam beats the EVO and I found a one owner clean low miler only 1000 miles away after a six month search. Since getting it I've added Buchannan wheels (18" rear), Sputher engine mounts and aluminum swingarm, 418 Progressives on back and Lyndall composite rotors. Now it'll handle...to make it move we did an HQ 103" motor. This is all a bit pricey and I don't think Sputhe makes stuff for the '06 and later frame, yet...but keep doing your homework; these bikes are capable of waybetter all around performance than off the showroom floor. Oh yeah; and I can cruise with the Shriners, too, if I want to.....

I think you just got into some instability due to decelerating into the turn. You might just need to practice doing some cornering, starting with that particular corner. Starting in at 90 and dropping to 80 is no good. Drop it down to 70 ahead of time for example, then increase speed in the corner, the acceleration gives stability, this is MSF basic course sorta stuff. I know this is a new bike for ya, the FXDF hasn't been out that long.
That all said there's no way that turd is gonna keep up with a Duke.

Your FXRP had a much more stable rubber mounting system than the current rubber mounts. So the Sputhe thing might be just the ticket. I have no experience with it. Progressive fork springs and shocks are always a good idea.
