Thunderheaders:to do,or not to do
Thinking of installing thunderheader pipes on my 87'FXRS.Right now I have straight pipes(no baffles).Have an SS carb &Andrews EV3 cam.Rest is stock.Any ideas? Thanks[sm=biker2.gif]

After talking to the owner of thunder monsters (very nice guy) and reading some posts on them, I decided to make my own and drill out the baffles on my stock slip ons and install them...WHOAA.....They sound friggin awesome, almost nascar-ish and a definate increase in seat of the pants perfomance. If you're not up to making your own, they are only like 80 bucks....well worth it.

My son had a Thunderheader on his 1992 FXR convertible, and it was way too loud for my tastes, although it did make a lot of power. His would set off car alarms in the parking lot.
If you are running straight pipes, the sound will probably not bother you, and I would bet that you get a power increase with a little back pressure that the TH will give you.

As far as being loud.All my buds say it's the loudest bike around.I'm looking to gear down the eccessive noise & get more pep when I crack the throttle.
