So I have my Heritage Soft Tail and love her, but I have stock pipes, and they are just too quiet! What are the best options out there to get some sound out of the bike, but not lose all of the back pressure and Horse Power? I want to make her loud when I crack the throttle.
Yeah, obviously there are all sorts of after market options, but which is going to give me the roar when I crack the throttle? V & H? Rush AMerican Custom???
Willing to spend the $$, but want to smile when I crack it open and make sure I am heard...
All the after market pipes will work what you want. Just go to your local biker watering hole on the weekend and look around. Find a nice set that catches your eye your done!
I'm a big V&H fan though. Just make sure you get ones that you can control the sound in. The BR's are pretty loud. But if loud is what you want...they're really nice pipes. I like the BSS and the Double Barell Long's. Even the slip ons are really nice.
I have V&H side shots and there a really lout WITH the baffle in. I run a stock engine on my 06 night train. I think almost any aftermarket exhaust will put a smile on your face when you twist her. V&H's are at least $500+
Well, I'm a firm believer there are Loud pipes that sound like crap and pipes that sound good.
You can rip the baffles out of nearly any pipe and it'll be loud and sound like garbage. Vance and Hines make some great pipes that sound fantastic. As do Rineharts. Either company won't steer you wrong.
For a cheaper option, cycle shack makes some slip-ons that are under 200 dollars and sound great.
If I were just starting out I would send in my stock pipes to that guy that modifies the existing pipes for performance. Just getting sound out of them may disappoint you... and it doesn't cost much, either. Quick turn around... they just use yours as exchange and send you a set that's already done, most of the time.
If you don't like them then you can still go buy an aftermarket set.
Can the V&H baffles be cut down or swapped for BCT or something if I want to tweak it a bit after the initial investment?
Yes they can, cut mine down to 5" on my big radius. A little louder than full baffle and I still got back pressure. I love the loudness of no baffles but got sick of hearing the burping and farting noises on decel. I am trying to find the classic "Harley" rumble, but I'm come to the conclusion that I will not get it with out engine work.
