in september i bought my '07 fxd vowing to keep it simple (except for stage 1). i parted with my beauty and said never again...
now i meet up with you guys here and i am installing hardware to make my bags detachable, someone else's street bob's shocks to lower my bike, a 2" tank lift kit from another member here, doing searches on floorboards and trying to work that in as well.
it was supposed to be easy... just keep it simple. you know, "back to basics"

Yea, the mod bug is addicting...I spent way too much on my previous bike and I'm tryin' to keep my new SB to a minimun on mods. I'm planning to do just a few more things to personalize the bike and spend more time riding it.

Just be lucky your Wife doesnt have a bike of her own guys!!! Worst thing mine did was to buy me a 2007 Low Rider and give me a HD Catalog.

Same here!!! I traded mt Heritage for my SB and said "All I'm gonna do is an exhaust and intake and thats it"... Well, barley even over 100 miles on the bike and I'm already $1500. into it and my wish list is a mile long. Doing things slowly so my wife doesn't notice to much at one time... HA, HA, HA, HA...

I dunno, I've actually saved money by joining/reading this forum. The only new, MSRP purchased thing I have is the windshield that I got when I picked up my bike. Everything else has been bought 'gently used'. So far, I've bought some parts from guys here (and a couple on ebay) and learned a way to make rigid sideplates 'removable' instead of getting the more expensive HD detatchable set-up that leaves the hardware remaining on the bike. There will be more that I'll be doing, using the "Under $50" thread.

Funny but true. Working on bikes is like Crack... the only thing better is riding.
I bought an 08 Nightster the end of February last year. Did a ton to it and got bored.
Sold it and know started on my bob.
and I still have my wife and kids....
