What is the differrence in the wide tire kit that is offered for the wide glide vs the one offered for the other Dynas. I personaly own a 2007 WG and am interested in putting the Dunop SE 180 on my bike. I have detachable side plates for my sissybar/luggage rack already installed and it appears that there is plenty of room to accomidate the 180 tire. Can someone verify that the correct part # for the tire I will need is 43197-04A Also does anyone know the part # for the tube that is needed to go along with this tire.
Tks

The kit for the WGIS different from the other dynas but the tire is the same. It's probably the fender hardware that is different. The PN for the WG 06 and up kit is 43705-06. You have the correct PN for the tire (43197-04A) and it is the same for all of the wide tire kits. It looks like the PN for the tube is 40502-06 (17", 160/70-180/60-17 Center Metal Valve). You are supposed to replace the rim band as well, especially if you have spokes. The rim band PN is 40916-08 for Radials/non-spokes and PN 43101-06 for spokes.
By the way, I also have detachable sideplates and plenty of room for the tire without the kit. My plan is to buy the tire, the tube, and the rim band and take it to an indy and have it installed.
I'm changing my tire this Thursday. I too have the detachable side plates. I have a new set of wheels to put on and the rear will now be a 18"x5.5" with an Avon 180.
