The plate holder was no big deal. Except that nobody makes them, I had to make it. It's really temporary until I have time to make a nice one. I ordered a plate frame that has a light built in, it worked good.
BTW: It looks good to me. I thought about making one to bolt behind the axle nut(if there is enough threads).
I just figured I always planned on a $16,000-$18,000 bike so what better way to spend the money I saved on the more affordable Street Bob than with a Big Bore kit. At least that's how I justify it to myself.
I really like that side mounted license plate. Cleans up the rearend nicely. Love the 14" ape hangers too! Man this is gonna be a long week.
I did go with 14" apes, I think stocks are about 10.
I posted a list of what parts I used on another street bob page, it's a little work though because I'm running the wire internally in the bars to clean it up and going with stainless cables, should look good when finished. As far as the plate mount, I had to make it, I couldn't find anyone who made one yet.
My pipes are on backorder until the 28th so I picked up the bike today. Man, I had forgotten how quiet stock mufflers were! Just about can't stand it. At least now I'll see the huge difference between the stock 88 and the Stage II 95". Can't wait! I really like the new six speed but the mid controls have got to go.
You mentioned that the stock apes on the Stree Bob are about 10". What about the stock risers? How tall are they?
I'm wanting to give my 05 Low Rider the Street Bob look. I just need to know what size bars and risers to get. Some have mentioned that I could use the pre-06 Wide Glide Bars to get the same look, but I'm not sure what their measurments are either.
Hey Halfbuck, the stock risers are about 2" total height. You could just install taller risers but your still in the same predicament with the control cables, and believe it or not, new bars were cheaper then Harleys risers.
Hey CraigC, your absolutely right on the noise level of stock pipes. They're so quite I have to turn my head sideways to listen and see about how high the engines revving. The wind noise in my ears overpowers the exhaust.
I bought the V&H Big shots with the o2 provisions. I've been waiting 4 weeks as of yesterday and they tell me the earliest would be the end of Feb.
It's killing me.
