Streetbob, Which wires are you going to run internally that were external? Obviously you kept the cables external since you invested in chrome cables. Were the cables absolutely necessary with the 4" rise?

My concern is whether it will alter the comfort of the ride. Right noe the 10" hit a sweet spot but I have considerd the 4" billeted nd slotted riser that sweep back as a way to raise the bars with out changing the comfort too much. Can you tell use the difference in the ride?

Hey Stucarius, the internal wiring will consist of all the electrical, there are actually like 9 wires on the right side and 8 on the left that run in those looms. The only thing showing will be clutch on the left and the brake/throttle/idle on the right, cables only.
When you go up that far changing the cables is a must, they won't reach at all. If you stay with exposed wiring then the change is no big deal at all, however I was only able the get enough slack out of the wiring on the right side, left side I had to modify.
As far as going with the taller risers (the slotted ones look awesome), it's the same as installing taller bars, the controls are still going up. It's really a job no matter how you look at it.

Thanks for the riser height, StreetBob. I'll be getting new risers along with the apes. My risers curve back on my 05 Low Rider, which probably wouldn't look right with apes, so I'm switching to straight. Just need to know how the whole riser/bar combo measures up.

I still wonder if the pre-06's Wide Glide bars (that I could use) have too wide of a base to look right with my narrow forks.

Thanks.

The braided stainless cables look really sharp! We put a set of Dad's Road King, looks really good. Definitely worth the investment if you ask me.

I hope so, I ordered a set and they called me yesterday to tell me they were in. I'm going to get them today, I just can't believe how much they cost. It ended up being about $200 for three cables. Ouch!!
I guess all in all, this hasn't been that expensive for this much of a change. The bars were $55, wiring extension was $20, cables are about $200 and misc electrical is about $15. So everything for under $300 if you do it yourself. Plus it completely changes the look of the bike.
Hopefully I'll be able to pick mine out when I'm at the street bob show. haha
