so where should a dealer draw the line on loaning out tools then?

a screwdriver?

spanner wrench?

dyno machine?

torque wrench??

LOL @ finding a dealer that loans tools! HI, I'm so & so, i've never bought anything from you yet and before i do i need a promise that you will loan me wtf ever tool i need. no? ok, i will go to the next dealer across town and ask them.

so many yappin bout changin dealers here for the most ridiculous of reasons,
i'm supposed to drive allover town to find the *right* dealer that greets me by my 1st name when i walk through the door, give me part #s so i can go elsewhere to buy the part and laon me any tool i want, whenever i want.

When I bought my bike from the dealer and he was explaining to me how to adjust the shocks, he said to ride in anytime and he'd run out real quick to adjust it for me if I needed it. That's just good customer service if you ask me.

Maybe you should buy one. Personally i made my own, but on a premium pricebike/any bike, surely it should come with the bike.
My opinion is that every bike should come with a basic tool kit to make the normal running adjustments needed between the stated manufacturers services. Anything short of this is negligence in this bullsh*t world of health and safety crap.
But as we all know health and safety is ok as long it dos,nt affect production or cost money.

I used a strap wrench from my less-than-extensive tool collection.

Worked fine.

Ever time I walk into my Harley Dealership I feel like they want to shake me down. They did everything in their bag of tricks to sell me a new helmet. I just wanted a new visor for my 3 year old helmet . Im afraid that they pretty well have a captive audience for their product ,like a Johnny Cash prison concert.Victory is an up and coming brand in Canada and Indian will no doubt force some competion .Made in America dont mean anything to a Canuck,we buy what is best .Indian made bikes in Canada til 1917 so its been awhile . My salesman should have asked me how I wanted my shocks adjusted for our weight before he delivered the bike to to me ,the customer . Come to think of it he should have asked if I wanted the rear cyllinder cut-out feature activated or not . Its gets pretty hot here in Canada too. I guess what we have here is a failure to comminicate and an appreciation of the word r-e-s-p-e-c-t.

if the dealer wouldn't do that for free , go else where , try your local Indy , its a nice ice breaker , pop in for a chat and maybe a coffee ,
tell him what they did , if he,s any good he should do that for free , just to get you coming back to him in the future .
he has all the tools you,ll ever need , so give him your business .

i hate bad dealers , lucky for me , mine at lakeside, Essex , england , have been pretty good with me , there nice guys who remember my first name and have time to shoot the breeze , you get free coffee and doughnuts , i even got a free first service on my fat bob a few months back , i think thats great customer service , so I'm happy , and will continue to use them ,
but i never get **** on twice in the same place ,

The first time I went to my dealer to buy a spanner wrench, they were out of them. They offered to have someone adjust my shocks for me. The spanner ended costing me almost double because I gave the kid a nice tip! Probably most people on this board would do the same thing. I appreciated the gesture from the shop, the kid made some extra change and I ordered a wrench from them. Every one happy! One last thing. I started out with the strap wrench from H.F. Broke on the second use. It was cheap and I got what I paid for!

Why didn't the service advisor/writer offer to do this task after explaining the no tools loaned deal. How hard is " We don't loan tools but give me a sec and we'll do for ya, by the way here's a part number for you". But then I suppose a lot of people never worked in any kind of dealership and worked upsells. Go to an indy and buy one from them, they the business, then take more work to them.
