Blade and the others hit it exactly. While I was in Air Force basic training, it was the letters and packages from my parents that pulled me through. Even now, 16 yrs later, it still lifts me up to hear paps tell me he's proud of me. Now my kids are talking about entering the service, hope I can be even half as much of an inspiration to them.
Almost 19 years active duty so far for me. I gotta say, I am proud of all the great young people we have coming in today. It's a different time than it was when I came in. It says alot about a person considering the stuff going on right now and they are still standing up and answering the call. I don't intend to push my son into the service when he gets older, but if he does, you can bet pride will not be a big enough word to describe what I'll feel. You have it 3-fold. I know it doesn't feel good being away from them, but when you look back you will know that your family answered the call. You and your children have my greatest respect. Rock on dad.
You know... I sometimes wish I had followed through with entering the Airforce as I originally plannedback inhighschool, but I really felt that Firefighting was my "calling"(12+ years of service). Ihave several in the family that were military, and felt that I let them down when I chose not to go. Several years later my grandmother told me how proud my grandfather (WWII Vet)and herare of me, and the way I chose to serve my country and community... Since I did not go military I was likely looking a little confused..... tilshe said "firefightingis no lessdangerous andno less required for the good of this country; Aperson can encounter danger anywhere, but it takes a person with integrity & character to not run from it and answer the calling."
You should be beaming with pride having raised upstanding children with such integrity and character. Be sure they know it!! It's families like yours thatfought to found this free country, and to this day still fight to preserve it.Please thank them for me and my family. God Bless and Keep Them.
My oldest son is 15 and insists that the Marines is where he's going. I know I'll worry when that day arrives, but I'll also shine with pride.
My hats off and my sincere thanks to all of you who serve and have served!!
I can't imagine the anxiety you must feel. But I do know that because of young men and women like your offspring we enjoy the freedoms we have today and I am grateful for each and everyone.
Thanks to all you who have families serving the greatest country on this earth.
By the way Wide Glides are the coolest bikes whether they rule or not. Especially if it is evo powered.
You're not whining. GOD BLESS. Maybe we should put some pressure on little Georgie Bush to bring our boys home. I don't see what good it's doing. Gas prices are high and the economy sucks. Have you ever watched "loose change 911" on the internet? It will get you thinking.
God bless our soldiers and keep them safe.
