Need help diagnosing problem
If the bike stays running, like you indicate on your post, then it is probably the coil or the VR. A battery that is going can do that as well. There is a plug on the front of the motor by the oilfilter that comes off of the stator. Check to make certain that is in all the way. Check your grounds.
If the bike stays running, but doesn't respond to throttle, then it could be the cap. There are vent holes on the inside of it. Check to make cure they are clear. Remember, the throttle controls gas. Twisting the wick doesn't increase the spark timing, the engine itself does that. So if you are twisting it up and nothing happens but idle, then gas could be the cause. You are getting spark if the bike is running. Could also be the petcock. Have you checked it to see if it moves? Some people never touch theirs, and they get stuck, and clogged.

Regular dual fire ignitions for about 100 bux.
VRs for about 85. If you know someone else with an EVO, maybe you can slave in the parts one at a time and see if it fixes it. Or check with your local wrench. Sometimes they have used dual fires for people who swapped out for single fire. If all you need it for is 20 mins or so to duplicate a probelm.
look at that bro... your bike went from a 97 to an 07 i hope my bike gets younger in time! (just joking with you pappy)
did you check that spark?
"I wouldn't waste my time fretting about it....it's an 07, take it to the dealer and make'm fix it."
